Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. She was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five and enrolled in at the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma realized she would like to be an actress and for many years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. At the age of 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaption from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were selected as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film appearance came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It broke all records in opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings as well as being the most-grossing feature of the year 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as the performances of the three leading actors of the young generation. The widely distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of a Film.
